Hello Families,
I hope everyone had a great weekend! We are back to a regular routine this week. Mrs. Brooks and I have decided to share our literacy and homeroom e-mails so you get 1 less e-mail per week. She will send a seprate e-mail for math. 🙂 Here are a few announcements for the week: Volunteer as Class Captain We need one parent to volunteer as our Brooks/Hyde Class Captain. These volunteer hours can be done mostly from home and help us accomplish the fun things like class parties, fundraisers, donations for class, and other activities throughout the year. Email me or Mrs. Brooks if you are interested in the position! Imagine Learning and I-ready: We are required by the state to have each student to do 45 minutes a week of these programs. Starting this week we will be adding these minutes as part of their grade to ensure Friday Online Questions: Please don't hesitate to reach out about grades for online friday work. We are noticing holes in their assignments where they are doing a couple things, but not at all. Literacy Unit 1 Week 3 This week the essential question is: How can a pet be an important friend? Genre Focus: fiction Comprehension Strategy: Good readers ask and answer questions about the text while they read. Comprehension Skills: Characters, Setting and Events Phonics: 2 letter blends Vocabulary Strategy: context clues Homeroom This week we are continuing our Habitat unit with Oceans and Rain Forests. The students are able to participate in Fun Friday on digital Fridays as long as they finish their Math independent practice and get their 45 minutes in i-ready finished. This is a reward at the end of the week! We might be adding other literacy requirements as the years goes on. Comments are closed.
